Phoebe McAfee
Red Bridge By the Sea
Materials: Cotton warp, wool weft

This bridge is a fantasy, woven as a demonstration at the Gathering of the Guilds. The water and the sky are ikat dyed with indigo and Cushing blue. It was inspired by railroad bridges along the coast.
Phoebe McAfee obtained a BA in sculpture and a MA in textiles, then spent her professional weaving life with the San Francisco Tapestry Workshop (1977-1981) and as a weaver for Mark Adams (1982-2002). She is affiliated with local and regional fiber guilds.
