Among the myriad ways Audrey gave to Damascus Fiber Arts School over many years, the most endearing to me was the gift of allowing our dogs to spend time with us there. The dogs had to get along with each other, be quiet, not steal lunches or goodies brought to share.
Although my dog struggled in all these areas, a generous Audrey and staff and students allowed her presence. Now, Cassie and Audrey’s legacies meld in my mind. In this piece, I thought of Audrey whose dress is leaving stage left and a few of dogs at school when I first started there: my mixed breed, a pure-bred Golden, a Greyhound and a Whippet.
