What Are We Building

“What are We Building?” I want my tapestry to reflect the place and times I live in. I see two conflicting world views: build walls to keep people separate or build community. At the heart of my tapestry is the notion of construction. Unfinished construction dominates the foreground of my tapestry. What will it become and for what purpose? Portland, the “Bridge City,” has built 12 bridges across the Willamette River connecting very different neighborhoods. The longest is the Fremont Bridge, which I traveled daily to go to work.
