This tapestry is my homage to Audrey Moore, our beloved teacher and mentor. This tapestry was inspired by her tapestries of ladies’ dresses. Each of these tapestries focuses on a different dress. I love how the dresses come alive. They appear to be dancing. The colors are bold, the image dynamic. Trees are very important to me, as was Audrey, so my first decision was to combine trees and dancing. I also knew I had to include ribbons. Audrey was a master weaver but complained about weaving ribbons. As my ideas came together, I studied her color choices and ways to suggest movement. The many months this tapestry took to conceive and execute was time I thought about Audrey. She loved tapestry and was committed to promoting it. Damascus Fiber Arts School is her legacy.
