Ila McCallum
Ila is a lifelong fiber artist who has come to tapestry through garment construction, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and weaving fabrics. She taught quilting and weaving to those not familiar with the techniques and specialized vocabularies and currently assists newer weavers. Her active participation in several fiber arts groups and guilds has increased her knowledge, enabled her to share her learning with others, and has enabled Ila to promote fiber arts to a wider audience.

Artist Statement
The beautiful Willamette Valley has been my permanent home and nature is my main inspiration. A love of fiber arts has helped me form my aesthetic of simpler lines and love of color. Tapestry gives me a way to express the beauty of the world around me in fiber, color, and texture using handwoven lines and shapes. The addition of words in some of my tapestries adds another dimension to expressing the idea of each piece.
