Beth Scarth
While working as a Librarian at Sandy Library, Beth was impressed by a showing of tapestries from Damascus Fiber Arts School. When she retired in 2014, she immediately signed up for tapestry classes. She learned the basics of tapestry from Terry Olson and Audrey Moore. Other studies at the school include Tapestry on a Navajo-style Loom, Raised Edge Pick and Pick, Color Gradations, Hachures, Soumak, Wedge Weave, and others. She has also learned many helpful tips and tricks from other members of our DFAS weaving community.

Artist Statement
I love creating weavings expressing the beauty and complexity of intangible ideas. I also love creating tapestries of single items with simple lines. I love bright colors, and I love neutral hues. I have not yet found my style. But I have found my “thing” --- tapestry, and I have found my “people” --- weavers. I have studied weaving for 8 years, and still feel like a novice. I am in an exciting place now, learning and experimenting every day.
